Today was the first official day of winter and the winter solstice. I decided that it was only fitting to workout under the stars and around the Christmas trees in the Mudroom. Rather than bring our weights and mats, we just wore a pair of gloves and did a clockwork workout as is described below. During our second song workout, we even got a little cold and wet working out on the dewey turf, but it only seemed fitting on this first day of winter!
Warm up: 10 cadence windmills, 10 grass grabbers, Michael Phelps while I explain
That Thang: Count off 1-5
Clockwork workout (Rock around the Christmas Tree)
We divided into five groups; four of the groups split to the 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock positions on the “Courtyard clock.” The fifth group stayed to the side to begin. The fifth group included the Q and communicated the next exercise to the first position on the clock. That group would then jog 1/4 of the circle to where the next group was located and let them know what the next exercise was, and then that group would run and pass the exercise along to the next group and so on. There was always a group in motion and the new exercise would begin when the group behind reached the next group. The cycles were approximately 1-2 minutes in duration and the exercises were:
Plank to finish!
Sally’s (we did squats to “Flower” by Moby): When Moby says “up”, we go up and when Moby says “down”, we go down.
Love the Way You Lie (by Rihanna and Eminem): When Rihanna sings, we did curtsy lunges. When Eminem sings, we did American Pie sit ups.
Name-o-Rama, CoT – T’s and P’s (Thoughts and Prayers)
Ladies, thanks for joining me this morning and trusting me to do something KC style. You all are awesome and I enjoyed being with you!
