BackBlast:

We are still in FiA Olympics week, so we dressed up as a spirit day as well as for to show love for Needle @ FiA Lexington! Since it was Wednesday, I went with a theme for the workout inspired by the movie, Mean Girls.

Hops helped me with movie quotes and keepin’ up the enthusiasm, as always! Flip Flops kept it real and brought her beast mode, which inspired and challenged us all! Buzz keeps killing it, making her burpees better and better with each workout!

THE THANG

First we warmed up with 30 seconds each of: drops, arm circles, hip openers, and smurf jacks.

For the first set, we did 3 rounds of 10 reps each/per side of the below in order to spell out “fetch,” as in, “that’s so fetch…”

  • False starts
  • Elevated heel touches
  • Triceps presses
  • Curls
  • Hand release push-ups

Run 1 lap in between each round

In the movie, one of the characters laments how she wants to lose 3 lbs – just really looking for reassurance from her posse that she looks great, so we all looked awesome during the below 45/8 Tabata routine:

  • Squat presses
  • Weighted donkey kicks – L
  • Monkey humpers
  • Glute bridge hold w/chest flies
  • Figure 4 squat hold – L
  • Alternating curtsy lunges
  • Squat presses
  • Weighted donkey kicks – R
  • Bonnie Blairs
  • Zebras
  • Figure 4 squat – R
  • Calf raises

Finally, we took turns playing the “math-lete” by performing a count of 10 burpees while the other PAX did the below for the duration, switching moves as each person took her turn:

  • Russian Twists
  • Reverse crunches
  • In & outs
  • Dollies

For CoT, I thought about the scene in the movie where the lead character is at a math competition & is asked a question about limits… The answer to the question ends up being, “the limit does not exist.” Along those lines, I felt like Olympic Saturday pushed my limits with some of the events and challenges I participated in, but I also surprised myself with what my body was able to achieve. My encouragement for the day was that the more you keep at it, the more you realize many times how true it is that the limit does not exist. My wish for each PAX was that she find infinite mercies and blessings throughout her day!

We ended with a fun name-o-rama, which we may have to re-brand as Queso-rama, as all the oxygen-deprived PAX who pushed their limits for this intense workout gave us a laugh by saying they were all Queso – I don’t know if she feels like every woman, but she’s definitely deserving of an MVP award for her mad social media skills throughout FiA Olympics week and always!
