Legally Blonde and I did a co-Q for the day before Thanksgiving, over at the Rosewater!!
First, had an awesome time of Stretching/Warmups led by Legally Blonde!
We did 60 seconds each of exercises that spelled THANKSGIVING, alternating with a 30 second plank variation, for a “Planksgiving” routine! We had 10 second rests in between each exercise/plank. The exercise/plank list was:
- T = Toy soldiers / High plank
- H = Heels to the heavens / Low plank
- A = American Pie sit-ups / (R) Side plank
- N = Narwhals (30 sec each leg) / (L) Side plank
- K = Kiss The Baby Pushup / buzz-saw plank
- S = Surrenders / Shoulder tap plank
- G = Gun show (30 sec each arm) / Thread the needle plank
- I = Imperial walkers / (R) Star plank
- V = V-ups / (L) Star plank
- I = Inchworms / Downward dog plank
- N = Narrow squat w. alt leg kickback / Up-down plank
- G = Grass grabbers / J-Lo plank
Then we did a “THANKFUL Ladder”, alternating a turkey trot (run/jog) and turkey walk (duck walk with head bobbing😄🦃) around the mats in between each:
T = Tricep dips x5
H = Hand release push ups x 10
A = Angry donkey kicks x 15
N = Narrow squats (knees together) x 20
K = Kangaroos (4 high knees/1 squat) x 25
F = Froggers (plank/jump feet-elbows) x 30 (divided by 2😆)
U = Unicycle x 35 (more like 20🤪)
L = LBCs x 40
We followed this up with an awesome time of Stretching/Cooldown by Legally Blonde!
Legally Blonde then finished us off with her convicting COT:
John Piper, founder and teacher of Desiring God, shares the following devotion –
Now and then, it needs to be said that not all thanksgiving is thanksfeeling. We can make ourselves (or our children) say, “Thank you,” whether we feel it or not. But it’s not a good habit, especially in relation to God.
Jesus warns against “vain” worship. “This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; in vain do they worship me” (Matthew 15:8–9). Thanksgiving without thanksfeeling is empty. It does not count with God.
Genuine thankfulness is an act of the heart’s affections, not an act of the lips’ muscles. It is not willed, but awakened. It is not a decision of the will, but a reflex of the heart. Thankfulness happens to us. We become aware of good will toward us, and either we feel gratitude or we are ungrateful.
It is not an inference; it is an experience. If the response of our lips is a mere logical deduction, it’s not heart-thankfulness. (Premise 1: Someone is willing my good. Premise 2: One should say thanks in such situations. Conclusion: I will cause my lips to say thanks.)
Now let’s relate this to the glory of God the way the Bible does.
“The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me” (Psalm 50:23). This offering of thanksgiving which glorifies God is not merely external. It is gratitude truly felt in the heart.
Made a couple Announcements:
