It’s November 21, 2020 and it’s my 50th Birthday!

We did an “Indian Run” for our warm up. When each PAX ran to the front of the line, they had to tell me one good thing about turning 50. The list was impressive and true!

To start off this Birthday Q, we did 5 rounds of ALARM (Arm, Leg, Ab, Run, Mamamia!)

Bicep curls – 10

Squats – 10

Plank – 50 seconds

Butt kickers – 50

Burpees – 10

Bicep curls – 10

LBCs for 50 seconds

High knees – 50

Burpees – 10

Bicep curls – 10

Squats – 10

BGS for 50 seconds

1 lap – 50 feet?

Burpees – 10

Bicep curls – 10

Squats – 10

Russian Twists for 50 seconds

Jacks – 50

Burpees – 10

Bicep curls – 10

Squats – 10

Bicycle for 50 seconds

Skaters – 50

Burpees – 10

By the end of 5 rounds we had done 50 bicep curls, 5 squats, and 50 burpees (as well as several other things) in honor of my 50th birthday.

Next we moved to the “respect” portion of the workout and did most of these exercises for 50 seconds:

R – Raggedy Ann – in a sumo position, hands laced behind the head at the ears, alternate sides reach one had down and touch the heel of the same side then repeat on the other side. Bending at the waist, keeping the back straight.

E – Elevated tricep pushups – we didn’t want them to feel neglected since we spent so much time on the biceps today.

S – Saturday Ab Challenge – Post Malone Circles video was fun and definitely challenging. It was almost 4 minutes long!

P – Protractors – while laying on our backs, we went around the circle twice. PAX called out various angles to hold legs at, such as 10 degrees, 30, 90, 110.

E – (figure) Eight Shuffles – like “fast feet” but in a figure 8 – we did it 8 times.

C – crockpot squat – Regular squat but lowering body slowly on the first 3 counts, lifting up on the 4th count.

T – Turkish Get up – Laying on back, use only one arm and your legs to “get up” to a standing positing

We cooled down to R.E.S.P.E.C.T. by Aretha Franklin because…of course we had to!

Then I shared my Birthday COT:

When I was 16 – people didn’t believe I was old enough to drive.

When I was 21 – I was mistaken for the one my parents requested the child’s menu for.

When I was working as a degreed professional, they thought I was one of the foster kids. My whole life I’ve experienced what came across as disrespect because I looked younger than I was.

That doesn’t happen so much anymore… but that may be why I am so happy to embrace my age, my gray hair and so excited about you yelling respect behind my name at every workout from this point forward!

“Respect is one of the greatest expressions of love.” I am thankful for the love, friendship and respect I have found in this group!

We did our name-o-rama where everyone yelled “respect!” after my name for the first time (awesome!). Now I’m off to enjoy a massage, dinner from Giorgio’s, and ice cream from Bruster’s! Happy Birthday to ME! Thanks for being a part of it!
