COT:

It is often said that the company you keep shapes the person you will become. This is true of spending time with your friends and family and also true of our time with Christ.

In Acts 4:13, something remarkable is said of Peter and John. While boldly testifying before the authorities about the risen Christ, something caused the authorities to be astonished. It wasn’t their intelligence, articulate speech, or logical arguments.

“Now when they [the authorities] saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus….”

Peter and John’s bold proclamation of the risen Christ made it obvious that time with Christ had transformed them.

This same possibility is open to believers in Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit. We have the opportunity daily to be transformed by the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:1-2), to boldly approach the throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16), and to have life-giving fellowship with God the Father and Jesus Christ the Son (1 John 1:3-4).

Lord, may our passion for spending time with you increase to a way that the watching world takes notice!
