Once again, it was a cold February Saturday at 8:00 a.m. There were ice crystals on the ground making things a little slippery. Nevertheless, we warmed up by doing some boxer shuffles while demonstrating each of the exercises.
Today’s workout was inspired by the game musical chairs, but there was no sitting and none of the exercises were taken away….so, yeah…just like the game…
We had 4 stakes in the ground making a square on The Grassy Knoll. Each stake had 4 exercises printed on it. Arms in one corner, Legs in another, Cardio in another, and Misc in another. For one minute we would run or walk briskly around the square. When the bell rang, everyone scrambled to find an exercise on one of the stakes which we did for 1 minute. When the bell rang, we would run the other direction for 1 minute and then find a difference exercise and do it for 1 minute. And so on…and so on…The idea was that no one was doing the same exercise at the same time.
I was a little off on my timing so we didn’t get to do all 16 exercises. Titanium said, if she had known that, she would NOT have done the burpees in the first round! Sorry! 🙂
To finish our workout, we did 6 abs exercises for 30 seconds with no break in between. By the time we got to BGSitups at the end, a few of us had trouble getting that first one done!
We stretched out, heard our COT (a bit of dialogue from a book I’m reading) and our Name-o-Rama! This was all followed by a lovely CofFiA thanks to Titanium, who let me eat and drink the snacks even though I made her do burpees! She’s cool that way, you know!
Quote from To Sleep in a Sea of Stars by Christopher Paolini
“…I wanted to tell you this: eat the path or the path will eat you.”
“Only this, and this alone: circumstances press hard upon us. Soon all that will be left to you, or to any of us, is bare necessity. Before that happens, you must decide.”
“And what exactly am I supposed to decide?”
“Who you want to be, of course. Isn’t that what all of our decisions come down to?”
(conversation between characters Kira & Inare)
Here’s to all the PAX who made the decision to be the kind of person who starts their day with a workout! You rock!
