BackBlast:

In honor of Valentine’s Day and Love, today’s workout was cardo heavy because…it’s good for your heart!

We started the workout by warming up to the Cupid Shuffle. We did jumping jacks, squats, froggers, single leg plank taps and mountain climbers to the music.

Next we had 12 exercises at various points under the pavilion (yes, it rained/sprinkled the whole time). We all started at different points, did one exercise, lunge walked to the next point, did the exercise, lunge walked to another point, etc. The idea was to zig zag all over the pavilion while maintaining social distancing. Here are the exercises: 4 different punches (make them full body exercises!): jab, cross, upper cut, and hook; seal jacks, soldier jacks, high knees, jump rope, skaters, mountain climbers.

After doing all those exercises once through, we returned to our circle of mats for HEART.

H=High 5 push ups – I enjoyed syncing my “air high 5” with Signs across the circle from me.

E=Eight Count Flys (we did the exercises for 45 seconds, we did not count but there are NOT many exercises that start with the letter E!)

A=American Pie Sit Up – see the lexicon!

R=Russian Twist

T=Tricep Dip

We still had some time, so we did the 12 exercises again, this time with less lunge walking in between.

Then we did HEART one more time for good measure – this time for only 30 seconds each.

We ended with Name-o-rama and COT. Here’s one of my favorite Bible verses about love from one of my favorite versions of the Bible (The Message). I John 3:18 – “My dear children, let’s not just talk about love; let’s practice real love. This is the only way we’ll know we’re living truly, living in God’s reality. It’s also the way to shut down debilitating self-criticism, even when there is something to it. For God is greater than our worried hearts and knows more about us than we do ourselves.”

Happy Valentine’s Day!
