Loved being back at Rosewater after being away for the holidays for a couple weeks, and starting the new year off with FiA ladies, 6 faithful PAX at this AO! Started off with an intro and disclaimer as we stretched out our muscles.
Today, warmup was included in this first part of the Thang – Countdown to the New Year!
10 jumping jacks
9 squats
8 toy soldiers (alternating)
7 high-knees (L/R)
6 butt kicks
5 good mornings
4 lunges (2 forward, 2 back)
3 imperial walkers (L/R)
2 star jumps
1 burpee
After that we ran a lap around the circle in the parking lot.
Then we did 22 of each of the following exercises, representing the months of the year (or AMRAP until the first one to 22):
January – Jack jacks, Jello shooters
February – fiddler crabs, figure 4 squats, flutter kicks
March – mountain climbers, monkey humpers
April – alternating shoulder taps, ankle biters, American pie sit-ups
May – mat taps
June – Jack-in-the-boxes
July – Jump shots
Aug – angry donkey kicks, Ab-solution
Sept – speed skaters, scorpion dry docks, sparky crabs
Oct – overhead presses, “over-the-rainbow” leg arches
Nov – narrow squats w. kickbacks, narwhals
Dec – dying cockroaches
We got through the “year” exhausted, but energized for the day!!
Shared my COT while stretching –
Isaiah 43:18-21
“Do not remember the former things,
Nor consider the things of old.
Behold, I will do a new thing,
Now it shall spring forth;
Shall you not know it?
I will even make a road in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert.
The beast of the field will honor Me,
The jackals and the ostriches,
Because I give waters in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert,
To give drink to My people, My chosen.
This people I have formed for Myself;
They shall declare My praise.”
I shared that as we go into a new year, we always think of starting new – work out more, diet, Bible reading, spending more time with God in prayer, etc… the above Scripture came to mind, the Lord saying to us, not to necessarily forget the past (obviously we should cherish, learn from, and recount God’s grace in past experiences!), but more to just not expect the same things but expect God to do NEW things, to bless and grow us in even more ways, even doing things that may seem IMPOSSIBLE, and always being for our GOOD, as He provides and satisfies us in every way always, when we seek and follow Him all our days! May we embrace and rejoice in ALL the NEW THINGS our God does in our lives in 2022 – and testify and celebrate with one another along the way, praising Him! We left feeling pumped for the new year, both physically and spiritually!
